Liam Neeson with a Shocking look in the upcoming ‘THE NAKED GUN’

Liam Neeson is set to star in the upcoming installment of The Naked Gun franchise, titled The Naked Gun 4+¼: Law of Toughness.   

Here’s what we know:

• Title: The movie is also referred to simply as The Naked Gun (2025).  
• Role: Liam Neeson will play Lieutenant Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the iconic character Leslie Nielsen portrayed in the original films. 
• Premise: The plot details are currently under wraps, but it will follow Frank Drebin Jr. as he leads the Police Squad and, as the trailer suggests, will likely involve him saving the world.  
• Director: The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer, known for his work with The Lonely Island.  
• Writers: The screenplay is by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand, and Akiva Schaffer, with contributions from Mark Hentemann and Alec Sulkin.   
• 
• Producers: Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing the film.  
• Cast: Alongside Liam Neeson, the cast includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser (as Captain Ed Hocken Jr.), Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder, and Busta Rhymes.  
• Release Date: The movie is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 1, 2025. It was initially set for July 18, 2025, but was delayed by two weeks.  
  
• Filming: Principal photography took place in Atlanta, Georgia, from May to June 2024 and has wrapped.  
• Tone: The film is expected to be a comedy, with Neeson taking on a more overtly comedic role, while still possibly playing it straight in the style of Leslie Nielsen. The teaser trailer suggests a continuation of the absurd and slapstick humor of the original films.

This new Naked Gun movie serves as the fourth installment in the franchise, following The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991), and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994), all starring Leslie Nielsen.  

Liam Neeson has expressed excitement about the project and the opportunity to explore a more comedic role. This film is a departure from his more recent action-thriller roles that he is widely known for.
