Target reveals new denim take-back program as consumers show interest in reducing waste
|What do you do with your used clothing that no longer fits? Throw it out? Donate it?
In the coming weeks, Target plans to offer its customers a program that will offer another solution: trading in your clothes in exchange for a discount on a future purchase.
According to Today, Target will host its first-ever Denim Take Back Event from August 4 through August 10.
Customers are encouraged to bring in “up to five used denim items from any brand in any condition” and drop them in the specially marked boxes inside stores to receive a 20% discount via Target Circle which can be used as a one-time discount on an entire denim purchase.
The discount can be used on any denim brand sold at Target, including national brands like Levi’s.
In a press release, the corporation said the take back event was in response to consumers’ growing interest in reducing waste.
Denim from Target’s new program will be recycled and repurposed by the company’s partners.
Target already operates a successful Car Seat Trade-In Program which since 2016 has recycled 2.6 million car seats and 39.7 million pounds of materials.
I don’t know about you, but I think this is an excellent idea, especially since it’s happening right before school!
