Val Kilmer and Will Forte Almost Did The Amazing Race Together — But Their Agents Said No. Val regretted it his whole life!

In what might be one of the most unexpected duos in reality TV history, Val Kilmer once tried to recruit Will Forte to join him on The Amazing Race — and the idea was surprisingly serious.

The two actors struck up an unlikely friendship on the set of the 2010 action-comedy MacGruber, and according to Forte, that bond almost led them to become globe-trotting competitors on the hit reality show.

“Val said, ‘Will, you and I have to go do The Amazing Race. We have to. Let’s do The Amazing Race,’” Forte recalled. “I’m like, ‘I am so fully in.’ We got really excited about it.”

Unfortunately, their agents had other ideas.

“We called our respective agents and managers,” Forte continued, “and they were like, ‘There’s no way you guys are doing that.’”

Though the plan never came to life, Forte still carries the regret years later.
“That is, maybe to this day, the biggest regret of my whole career — that I never did The Amazing Race with Val. I think we would’ve gotten out very quickly, but it just would’ve been the experience of a lifetime.”

While fans can only dream of what chaos and charm the pair would’ve brought to the race, this behind-the-scenes “what if” might just be one of the most delightful near-misses in reality TV history.
